Hello, I am looking for help with designing a square necked cotton damask dress that is fitted and flared. I would like it to be short (above the knee.) And I would like to have an additional removable large skirt which would leave the front open. If possible, I would also like a detachable sleeve. I am a 5’10 and have a large chest and long torso, so I think a more structured bodice would look well. I appreciate your help in advance.

Dress Design

We can add detachable puff sleeves and a removable mesh overskirt to the short dress in the second picture. The bodice will come with a built-in bra and invisible boning.

Hi Shirley,

Thank you so much for your help. Yes, I would like zipper on the back, and I like the free jacquard fabric with the roses on it. My bra size is currently 38F in Irish sizing, but I will submit all of those details when you need them. Is it possible to make the detachable sleeves from a chiffon fabric?

We will use this fabric for the main dress, for the overkskirt, it will be made of the same coor tulle: https://oneyard.shop/bridal-illusion-tulle-netting-fabric-18.html

For the detachable sleeves, we recommend using mesh or floral jacquard fabric as it will more closely match the effect shown in your reference image. If chiffon is used, the fabric is more fluid and draped, and the resulting look will be different.

As for the lining, we recommend this linen fabric. It is very soft and comfortable, and we use this specific lining material for almost all of our dresses.
