I absolutely LOVE the style of this two-piece prom dress, but I'd like to make a few alterations to the coat.

  • I'd like to change the color of the coat part to a wine/ Tyrian purple color with some black embellishments (lace/detailing) concentrated along the hemline and dispersed up the rest of the bottom half of the coat. 
  • I would also like the bottom of the coat to not go completely straight across in the front, but to have a small taper like a high-low dress.
  • It's also really important to me that the clasp of the coat be subtle so that it looks like part of the dress when on like in the first picture. (also if there's a way to give the hips more body

Just in time

I’m very particular about my clothing, so I wanted my prom dress to be exactly how I envisioned it. Tansy was very patient with all my design details and decision changes. When I received my dress a week before my prom, and it was way too small, I wanted to cry. Luckily Lunss was very understanding and sent me all the material I needed to alter the dress in just two days. The material they use is very good quality and they clearly put a lot of time and effort into their work. I would just suggest getting professionally measured if you don’t want to run into the same issue I did.

What you wrote in your quote sound great! I just have a few questions as to what the next steps of this process will be. I read the page that explains dress customization, but I still feel unclear about a few things. For instance,

  • Would the message you sent to me be considered my design consultation, or do I get more of a role in the creation process?
  • Is a sketch of the design included in the price you gave or would I have to pay extra for that?
  • What exactly are "photo confirmation" and "modification in adjustable range for one time" (two of the items you wrote under "Service Package"?
  • Finally, is there a payment plan available or does the *** have to be paid in one lump sum? (I'm a high school student paying for this myself and I don't have all the money right now).

If you could give me a bit of insight on the above questions, I'd be very appreciative. I'm very excited to move forward with you and see my dream prom dress come to life!

Please note in order to make this dress in your budget, some alterations can not be done. Such as your below requirement, it can not be met. Otherwise the cost of your dress is more than your budget. That's why I replied to you at first time without below detail.

Customers need to pay extra for sketch service.

Photo confirmation means we will provide pictures for you to check after we finish the dress, if your time permits.

If it is our fault, we can alter the dress until you satisfy with it. Otherwise, you need to pay for alterations.

You can pay 60% at first so that we can process the dress. And pay the rest after you check the pictures of the finished dress, so that we will ship this dress to you.

Hi Tansy,

Thank you for answering my questions; I was originally under the impression that the omitted alteration couldn't be done. I like the suggestion about getting rid of the fabric in the triangles, I'm just worried it will look a bit too blunt if that makes sense. Is there any way to make the taper less harsh? (Also please let me know if I'm completely off base about it being harsh, I know nothing about dressmaking.)

Also, would it be possible for you to give me a quote for a dress that would include all the alterations I asked for in the initial inquiry? If I'm able to make a down payment on it now for the processing (I currently have $286) and pay the remainder later I'd be willing to go over my initial budget of $350.

Hi Tansy,

The high-low cut of the red dress is exactly what I had in mind! And I have no issue spending the extra $50 for the lace detailing (It looks absolutely gorgeous!) I just won't be able to pay it in full right now (could you let me know the adjusted processing payment I'd have to make to include the lace?). As for the coat color, I really like number 115. Also, would it be possible for the lace body-con dress to be slightly above knee length? I don't want it as short as the original photo I gave you, but still around mid-thigh. (Here's a picture for reference)

Yes, it is easy for us to make bodycon dress with above knee length skirt. Length of bodycon dress depends on measurement from hollow( center of collar bone) to hemline you provide.

Hi Tansy,

Do you have an opinion on what color the lace appliques should be? I'm tempted to make them black to match the dress, but if there was another color that would look better with the color of the coat and wouldn't make the two pieces look disjointed, I'd like that much better. And a lining and cups would be great; I hadn't even noticed the dress was completely see-through. Could the lining be spaghetti strap and slightly low cut though? I like the exposed arms and upper chest part.

We advise lace appliques on coat in the same color as the coat, so that this coat could be wear to match other dress or shirt.

We advise to add lining in red area with sweetheart neckline, so that long sleeves and upper neckline is see through.

Or we do not put cups inside, you wear bra by yourself.

Sorry for taking so long to reply, winter break recently ended. I'm glad I decided to get the picture done because there are a few pretty major things about the design I don't like and would like changed. If I tell you the changes I would like made, can those changes be made to the picture itself before it's emailed to me or will they just be taken into account for the actual dress itself?

Alright, I've written the changes I'd like made below. If they can be made to the original sketch, great! If they can't, I'd just like the dress processed with the new changes (I'll also have all my measurements to you by this Friday). Please let me know if the below changes are possible. Thanks!

  • First, the color. I was under the impression the color I picked for the jacket was less of a purple and more of a deep red, but it did not look that way in the picture. If that is the case, I'd like to color of the jacket changed from 115 to something like 39 or even 72
  • The jacket also just kind of hangs off the hips in the picture, is there a way to give it a bit more shape?
  • Second, I like the cut of the slip under the dress and the fact that it's body-con, but would it be possible to do it in a different color? I'd prefer it in more of a nude tone (since I'm black, I'm looking for a more brownish color than a typical "nude"; see below picture for color I'm looking for) 5a605b63b037e

  • Change color for short bodycon lace dress- please choose color from sample color chart.
  • Do you mean bodycon shape of dress like below?
  • The bottom of short bodycon lace dress does not has side slits.

    If you would like to add side slits like below we can do it for you.

  • The bottom hem is slightly wavey instead of straight. The lace along the hemline looks like a dense (half-inch) band of lace making the dress come to a full stop.
    The short bodycon lace dress will end with scalloped hemline as marked like below. Please note that the lace pattern is different, we can not change the dense.

  • I don't know what you mean by "more structured" in regards to the jacket; could you explain what you mean?
  • Just to clarify I do not want the color of the lace for the bodycon dress changed from black. You said you could put a slip underneath the lace so that the dress would not be see through. It's this slip underneath the lace that I would like the color changed for (instead of black, I would like it to be #44 from the sample).
  • I also like the original shape of the bodycon dress that was in the sketch (other than the few details I listed in the last message), I simply included the picture of the other bodycon dress to show that I wanted the lace and the slip underneath the dress to be different colors.
  • I would like a small slit for the sides of the lace dress, please. Let me know what measurements you will need for that.
  • I like the scalloped hemline, and I would be open to the hems being done with plain black fabric if it would give me more of my desired look. (Can this be done? Do you have an opinion on this? Please let me know.)

Hi Tansy,

All the details you listed are correct. I would like the height of the slit to be 2.5 inches. I would like the solid black fabric to be used just for the bottom hem of the dress, not in as thick a band as you have marked in the picture. I also didn't mention this before, but I like the idea of the mini turtleneck being done with the same lace as the dress in the band you marked out in a previous picture.

As for the jacket, I was just wondering what you would be doing to give it "more structure" and how it would impact the look and feel of the dress. It's still unclear to me.

Hi Tansy,

The reason I paid for a brand new sketch was so that I could see all the changes we talked about reflected in the new image. While I like the new colors and the mini turtleneck, I see no scalloped hemline or slit in the bodycon dress as we had discussed. There is also nothing to show me how the drill satin fabric will look different than the original fabric that was going to be used; you just kept the same coat from the first picture and altered the color. All the changes that were made in the new sketch look like simple add-ons to the old sketch which is very disappointing, since I paid for a new one to be done. Could you possibly do a sketch that reflects all of the changes we talked about?

I am sorry that it is impossible for us to show picture of dress side, so it is hard to show the slit of skirt. But you can check the details by enlarging the pictures.

  • Scalloped hemline- I thought you want skirt with plain black fabric which is shown in the sketch.
  • Drill satin fabric is just a bit structured and stiff than satin which can not be shown in the pictures. It is a feel.

I'm afraid I might not have been clear before. I still want the scalloped hemline, and I wanted the very bottom of the dress hemmed with solid black fabric (not a thick band of fabric as shown in the sketch). Please let me know if this can be done. I was also under the impression that the stiffness of the fabric would give a fuller look to the dress. Is there any way to give it a fuller look? (maybe more fabric?) Please let me know. If this is not possible then I'll stick to the mikado.

-Could you please clarify it? Hemline is the very bottom edge of skirt. Scalloped hemline and solid black hemline can not be exist at the same time.

If you want scalloped hemline, we will change it for you.

Long jacket is made from a layer of fabric with lining sewn completely. It is too odd if we add petticoat or more fabrics underneath to ceate puffier look. As it has slit and the petticoat and more fabrics will be shown through the slit.

I apologize for being MIA the past few months; I've decided I want the scalloped hemline, and I would like to keep the fabric of the coat drill satin. I've just added my measurements and the additional ones you requested I've listed below. I'm excited to see how the dress turns out!

Hollow( center of collar bone) to plunging of sweetheart neckline: 6.25 inches

Right now I'd only have a week and a half (assuming it would arrive to me by the 19th which I don't even think is the case.) Hi Tansy,

I just received the dress. It’s beautiful and well made, however, it is WAAAYY too small. I’ve included pictures to prove it. The bottom line is, I need the materials that were used to make this dress literally overnighted to me so I can try to salvage the dress.

What I need:

  1. three yards of the black lace bodycon dress fabric
  2. three yards of the nude mesh fabric that was used under the lace
  3. three yards of the satin fabric used to make the lining of the dress
  4. three yards of the red fabric used on the coat part of the dress.

I would have liked to send it back to you just to have it resized, however, my prom is days away, so I’ll need to hire a seamstress near me to do these alterations. If this is not possible, could I please have my money back? I paid for this dress myself, and I’m literally without a dress with my prom just days away.

You do not need the lace fabric and lace appliques which will take around 3 days for dyeing in black color?

Please kindly note that the color difference can not be avoided, even though each batch of fabrics are dyed in the same vat under the same process at each time.

Hi Tansy,

No, I don't need any more lace appliques. The bottom of the coat is actually perfect, it's just the shoulder and arm areas that are tight and the bodycon dress is too tight and short. I basically need to make the entire bodycon dress over. Is there any way you could express deliver the three yards of material to me after it has been dyed? (Also I didn't mention this before, but could you also send three yards of the red lining you used for the inside part of the coat?)

I will send you the video of me taking the measurements as soon as possible (hopefully tomorrow but definitely by Thursday). I do think the dress is beautiful and very well made, I just really need to get it to a seamstress so I can actually wear it to prom.

Please confirm if you would like to receive below fabrics.

For short bodycon lace dress:

  • three yards of the black lace
  • three yards of the nude mesh fabric that was used under the lace
  • three yards of the satin fabric used to make the lining of the dress

For coat

  • three yards of mikado.
  • three yards of lining

We would like to send those fabrics to you. The cost of above materials is around 190 USD. We would like to cover half part of material fee, so you only need to pay 95 USD now.

Please kindly note that if our tailor make the measurements incorrect, we will cover all the material fee, so we refund this 95 USD to you. If you provides the incorrect measurements, you need to cover the material fee, so we will do not refund this 95 USD to you.

Hi Tansy,

Yes, all of those fabrics are correct. I'm sorry but I have absolutely no more money. I'm a student and I had to put in extra hours and save up just to afford to buy this dress in the first place. I can promise you, I followed the instructions to take these measurements (I'll send you the video for proof soon). What's more, If you do send the material, I'm going to have to find and pay for a seamstress to remake my dress and fix the top of the coat so I actually have something to wear to prom.

If sending me the fabrics will cost too much, could you at least give me a half refund so I can actually purchase a different dress to wear to prom?

I am afraid that you can get at most 20% refund if we do not send the fabric to you, according to our refund policy.

I have applied to my supervisor, she would like to send the fabrics to you for free, so that you can have local tailor to alter the dress, if you share some beautiful pictures with us in your prom.

For the lace fabric, how about we buy a black lace fabric which is in stock directly? So that all fabrics can be sent out today and you can alter the dress earlier.

This in-stock lace fabric will have different lace pattern but still beautiful for the short bodycon dress.

Thank you sooo much! I would happily share pictures with you + the site from my prom (As I said I love the dress, it just can't fit me). I think getting already died fabric is a great idea. I'll be remaking the bodycon dress anyway so it might be for the better. How soon can you have this fabric to me?
